McAffrey: "I know that in the midst of these political games, a strong voice of reason is needed. That's why I am running for re-election."
Oklahoma City - Today, State Representative Al McAffrey (D-88) officially filed for r-eelection to his third term in the Oklahoma State Legislature.
"The past session of the Oklahoma Legislature was consumed with silly games and political stunts," McAffrey said. "When I first ran for this seat, it was because I strongly believed that we needed level-headed, common-sense leadership in the Oklahoma Legislature. I never doubted that my voice was needed in a place where so many decisions impact the lives of parents, families, small business owners and their communities."
McAffrey was first elected in 2006 after winning a three-candidate primary. A lifelong Oklahoman, Mcaffrey enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served as a Navy Corpsman. When he returned home, he joined the Oklahoma City Police Department and later went on to own and operate several successful small businesses. McAffrey currently owns and operates OK Cremation & Mortuary Services.
"As the father of three girls, a small business owner, a Veteran and a State Representative, I have a unique perspective on the challenges that hardworking Oklahoma families face each day," McAffrey said. "That's why I've fought for tax incentives that spur small business growth and have opposed tax breaks for corporations that move jobs overseas. And it's why I supported pay raises for teachers and expanding health insurance to children."
"Today I am filing for re-election because I know my common-sense voice is needed in an institution that is so easily consumed with political tricks. I don't play political games. I never have and I never will."
