McAffrey Files to Run for State Senate
Oklahoma City, OK – Today, State Representative Al McAffrey officially filed with the Oklahoma Election Board to run in a special election for State Senate District 46.
“As a father, grandfather, veteran and small businesses owner, I’ve never doubted that my voice was needed in a place where so many decisions affect our families, businesses and communities,” said McAffrey. “I’m running for State Senate because I know that we needed level-headed, common-sense leadership in our State Legislature.”
McAffrey was first elected to the Oklahoma State House of Representatives in 2006 and has been a champion of strengthening small businesses, expanding access to affordable health care, improving our public schools and protecting seniors. He was reelected in 2008 and 2010.
“I know I have a unique perspective on the challenges our state faces,” McAffrey said. “Too often, our state legislature is plagued with partisanship and ideology, but I believe it’s still possible to work across the aisle and to what’s best for Oklahoma. That’s the kind of Representative I’ve been and the kind of Senator I’ll strive to be.”
A special primary election, if needed, will take place on February 14, 2012, followed by a special general election on April 3, 2012. If a primary election is unnecessary, the general election will be held on February 14, 2012.
